Expansion for Mortal Kombat 1, Khaos Reigns, Announced with New Story, Kombat Pack 2, and Animalities Making a Comeback

Netherrealm Studios has announced the upcoming Khaos Reigns expansion for Mortal Kombat 1, which is set to bring an exciting array of new content that is sure to please fans of the series. The expansion will include a fresh story mode, the introduction of Kombat Pack 2, and the return of a beloved feature from the franchise's past.

The four-minute trailer for Khaos Reigns showcases the new story mode, featuring an alternate timeline version of Havik as the main antagonist. Players will take control of their favorite characters to stop his evil plans, with the game's high-quality graphics and intense violence on full display. The new content is scheduled for release on September 24, 2024.

In addition to the new story, Khaos Reigns will bring Kombat Pack 2 to Mortal Kombat 1, adding six new characters as downloadable content. Sektor, Cyrax, and Noob Saibot will be available on launch day, along with guest characters Scream's Ghostface, Conan the Barbarian, and Terminator 2: Judgment Day's T-1000. The expansion also includes the original Kombat Pack characters Quan-Chi, Ermac, Takeda, Omni-Man, Homelander, and Peacemaker.

Furthermore, Khaos Reigns will reintroduce Animalities as a free update, a popular feature from the Mortal Kombat series. These unique Fatality animations transform fighters into creatures for a gruesome finishing move, with the trailer showing transformations into a hyena, pufferfish, and praying mantis, among others.
