It may sound unusual, but it's true: you can explore an art gallery in Fortnite now. The display is located in the Serpentine Gallery and features the "New Fiction" collection by pop artist Brian Donnelly, better known as Kaws. You can view his iconic works like "Companion" - a small figure with a large skull - and some stunning paintings.
This exhibition is a virtual version of an ongoing art show in London. While not as attention-grabbing as previous Fortnite art installations like "Your Progress Will Be Saved" in 2020 and the Radiohead collaboration "Kid A Mnesia," it allows players to explore the Serpentine Gallery and appreciate the showcased artworks.
A unique feature is that the exhibition is accessible within the main hub. By selecting the Creative mode, your character will spawn near the gallery in the garden. While you can try out new games in the hub, the giant red Companion statue will likely catch your eye and lead you to the exhibition.
Fortnite has been incorporating cultural elements into the game, such as music concerts and in-game radios in vehicles. Loading screens have showcased creations from talented artists like Yuko Shimizu and Christian Ward. Kaws has previously been featured in the game as a playable character.
Donnelly emphasized the importance of these projects in connecting with the younger generation and providing them access to experiences they may have missed in real life.
