Shazam improves music recognition for people using headphones

The feature unveiled by Shazam, owned by Apple, now allows users to discover music using the app even with headphones plugged in. This latest update ensures smooth music recognition, whether the audio is from external sources or playing within apps like TikTok and YouTube. Users can simply open Shazam, check for the headphone symbol to confirm their headphones are connected, and begin identifying songs around them.

Picture yourself enjoying TikTok videos with headphones on and coming across a catchy tune you want to identify. With Shazam's new feature, you just have to open the app, start the music recognition process, and then return to TikTok. Even though the video playback briefly stops, you can retrieve the song information when you go back to Shazam.

The same convenience applies when you're at a café, wearing headphones, and curious about the background music. Without taking off your headphones, you can use Shazam to figure out what track is currently playing.

Previously, Shazam could recognize songs playing on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, but it lacked the ability to identify music while headphones were in use. This limitation has been overcome with the latest update.

Established in 2002 and acquired by Apple for $400 million in 2017, Shazam remains a popular music discovery app, boasting over 300 million monthly active users globally.
