Challenges in the Sims series are fan-generated adventures that you can try out. Maxis Studios has introduced the Scenarios feature based on some of those adventures.
During a live stream presentation, the studio offered a sneak peek of the new mode. Challenges will be accessible through the Scenarios category in the main menu. Here, you can embark on a new adventure with preset conditions and a final goal to achieve, reminiscent of classic Sims challenges.
Currently, there are two default challenges to complete. The first one is a rags-to-riches tale called Money Making. In this scenario, you start as a sim with no money and must work your way up to financial stability.
The second challenge is more romantic in nature — Finding Love After A Break-Up. This scenario immerses you in the dating scene, where you strive to find a new partner and increase your simulated persona's happiness.
One of the best things about this new mode is that it is included in a free update released on November 2, 2021. Along with the Scenarios, the update addresses various bugs, introduces a collection of decorative plants, and adds "express-delivery content."
According to the official site's announcement, there will be more challenges added in the future, some of which may be time-limited events. This could imply the introduction of leaderboards, trophies, and rewards. While there is no mention of a scenario editor yet, allowing players to contribute their own ideas to challenges, it might be considered by Maxis in the future.
