When you have a lot of texts to read in a foreign language, like when you're abroad, retyping them on your phone for translation may not be the best option. Google offers a solution without the need to install apps from unknown developers.
Google services are powerful on their own, but when combined, they become even more efficient. With Google Translate incorporating elements of Lens, translating text from images is now easier than ever.
How to Translate Texts from Images with iPhone or iPad
Google Apps
Apple devices may not come with preinstalled Google apps, but by installing Google Translate, you can easily translate text from images following these steps:
· Run the app
· Choose “Camera” after the text field
· Direct the camera at the object with the text
· Wait until the text is recognized and the translation appears right in the camera in real time
· Select the languages manually if necessary
For short fragments, simply understanding the text may be enough. For larger fragments you may want to save, you can take a picture to save the photo and translate the text the same way.
You can also translate text from photos in your gallery by launching the app and selecting the photo from your storage. The process remains the same.
Native Apple Apps
On Apple devices, you can use native apps to achieve similar results by activating the Live Text feature in Settings and using it in the Photos app to select and translate text from images.
