Veteran Artist Kazuma Kaneko Departs Atlus After Three and a Half Decades

Renowned character designer Kazuma Kaneko, recognized for his contributions to popular game series like Shin Megami Tensei and Persona, concluded his 35-year career at Atlus and joined Tokyo-based COLOPL in 2023. In a recent interview with COLOPL, Kaneko explained that he decided to switch companies after being approached by a career agent who presented him with the opportunity at COLOPL. Kaneko was attracted to the idea of creating a new intellectual property from scratch, believing that his talent in developing original content would be well-utilized in this new position.

Having been with Atlus since 1988, Kaneko has fulfilled various roles over the years, including character designer and art director. His skills have played a key role in the success of beloved franchises like Persona and Devil Summoner. This transition represents a significant change in Kaneko's career, bringing a fresh perspective and creativity to COLOPL's upcoming projects.
